You work three times a week. You do not eat more than their friends, sometimes eat less, but all are thin and you're carrying around an extra 10 to 20 pounds around your middle.
This is not fair! Right?
I know because I am one of those people who have / had metabolic syndrome. I was in better shape than most of my friends, hiking, climbing, skiing through the Colorado Rockies. But I had this spare embarrassing that would not go. Too much beer? Perhaps, then I left. It did not help. No weight loss for me.
At that time, my doctor told me that I headed to pre-diabetes. The metabolic syndrome is never mentioned, just like I'll have to consider insulin injections in the future if I do not like a bit of weight. WHAT ... ? OK, this was getting serious.
I am six feet and 1 inch tall. I weigh 210 pounds. I lift weights. My BMI (Body Mass Index) is 27.7 according to the CDC. According to them my ideal weight should be between £ 140 and £ 189. In about 189 pounds, I'll look like a lean athletic fit. In about 140 pounds, I look like a female model of the French track.
Metabolic syndrome is not a disease but a group of things that do not work properly in your body. To name a few, I have
1). Excess weight around the stomach
Two.) My cholesterol (HDL) in 212 and
Three.) A fasting blood glucose of 102.
So what does this mean? Because I have three of these factors together, having the metabolic syndrome. Two important note to have the metabolic syndrome things are:
. 1) It puts me in the spotlight much fear three diseases: * hypertension, heart disease and diabetes **
And number 2.)
* I saved to lose weight
Why keep me overweight?
One of the wonderful gifts of metabolic syndrome is a newly discovered resistance to insulin. This resistance gives me a craving for refined carbohydrates. So I want to eat / bar all the time, keeping my low leptin levels, lowering my metabolism.
Here's how an overweight person like me can consume fewer calories, but still heavier than someone without these factors. My metabolism slows insulin resistance with frequent feeding, but still crave carbohydrates. The cycle is compounded because, as my refined carbohydrates that insulin resistance worse.
The good news is there is a syndrome, not a disease. You can lose weight, you can avoid the unpleasant consequences of metabolic syndrome and his three older brothers horrible. You can have more energy. There is plenty to eat, there are supplements that can help and not exercising. Always exercise. As I deal with it in my own life, I found a very useful and practical information to stay healthy. I am happy to share.
